(Belait, 18th) Yee Chung students step into the forefront of technology— embarking on an innovative learning journey at the AI and Robotics Exploration Camp.
The “2025 AI and Robotics Exploration Tech Camp,” co-organized by Malaysia’s Xue Xin Education Academy and Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) in China, was successfully held from June 1 to 7 at XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang) in Suzhou, China.
The activities included an opening ceremony, courses, and a closing ceremony. Camp participants embarked on a learning journey rich in knowledge and culture on a high-standard university campus.
Yee Chung High School selected 10 students, led by teacher Chen Yongxing, to take part in this program. The participants gained hands-on experience in artificial intelligence and intelligent manufacturing while exploring Chinese history and culture.
With the theme “Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics,” the camp’s courses covered modules such as DIY robotics and drones, foundational AI knowledge, 3D modeling, and laser crafting, carried out in the modern teaching facilities of XJTLU Entrepreneur College. Through hands-on activities and group collaborations, students improved their problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and technical practice skills.
Notably, the camp also introduced the unique “Entrepreneurship Guild Hall” project platform created by Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. The platform aims to further develop student team innovations into marketable products under the incubation of “Entrepreneurship Guild Hall” and “Innovation Workshops.” By combining real-world scenarios with societal needs, students’ creativity transcended the classroom and stepped towards industrial application, creating social value.
Team leader Zhan Hengsheng stated: “Being able to make a drone by hand is amazing; it has helped us better understand its structure and principles.” Most participants considered the drone project the most engaging—not only challenging but also promoting teamwork and trust among peers.
Although some students admitted that the AI-related courses were more theoretical and slightly difficult to grasp, they also gained an understanding of how AI can improve daily life, sparking their interest in technology.
During leisure time, the organizers arranged cultural exploration activities. Participants visited Yu Garden, The Bund, and Nanjing Road in Shanghai, as well as Suzhou Museum, Guanqian Street, and Pingjiang Road in Suzhou, gaining an in-depth appreciation of traditional Chinese architecture and urban development.
Grade 9 student Huang Yongwang shared: “The City God Temple gave me a strong sense of the ancient atmosphere—it was very interesting.” Liu Tianfu praised the night view of Nanjing Road and The Bund, calling it “breathtaking and a unique experience.”
Participants unanimously agreed that the camp not only broadened their horizons but also enhanced their personal development. Grade 10 student Liu Guihe remarked: “I learned to independently face challenges in an unfamiliar environment and overcame my anxiety about public speaking.” Another student, Ye Weijun, mentioned: “Through the drone project, I’ve gained more confidence in expressing myself and feel better prepared to handle team tasks.”
The students also expressed their sincere gratitude to the professors at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Professor Xue Youhui, Xue Xin Education Academy, their lead teacher, and their school.

Yee Chung’s Affirmation and Future Outlook
Lead teacher Chen Yongxing stated that this tech camp not only exposed students to international technology trends but also fostered growth through hands-on activities and cultural exchanges, making it a valuable international educational experience. He looks forward to more opportunities like this in the future.
Principal Dr. Zhang Guijuan also gave high praise: “We encourage students to step out of the classroom, embrace new knowledge, and experience diverse cultures. This camp not only expanded their perspectives but also promoted a balanced growth of technology and humanities. I feel proud of our students’ performance and am grateful to all supporting entities and guiding teachers.”
The successful execution of this tech camp reflects Yee Chung’s active efforts to promote internationalized technology education and provided students with a platform that integrates technology, culture, and personal growth. With the support of XJTLU Entrepreneur College, students have taken their first steps toward practical application, laying a foundation for future technological pursuits.
To further extend the learning outcomes, the camp participants will soon host an “After-Camp Sharing Session” and a “DIY Drone and Robotics Workshop” on campus to share their experiences and knowledge with their peers and juniors. This not only helps participants deepen their understanding but also offers the entire school community a chance to engage with cutting-edge technology, inspiring greater enthusiasm for exploration and practice.
