British media have revealed that UK heir to the throne Prince William pays as much as £7 million (about 37.62 million ringgit) in income tax annually. This figure places him among the top 0.002% of taxpayers in the UK.
For years, Prince William has refused to make his tax documents public, arguing that this is a right enjoyed by all citizens.
The majority of Prince William's income comes from the Duchy of Cornwall, amounting to over £20 million annually. This private estate, valued at about £1.1 billion, has been granted to each heir to the throne since the 14th century.
British media previously revealed that the royal Duchy of Cornwall and Duchy of Lancaster charge the army, navy, National Health Service (NHS), and schools for the use of land, rivers, and coastlines, generating huge profits. As a result, Prince William faces increasing pressure to improve tax transparency.
