(Miri, 13th) To further strengthen regional tourism cooperation between Brunei and Sarawak, the "5-day 4-night Brunei Travel Agents Familiarization Trip" has officially launched. This event is organized by the Sarawak Tourism Board, and co-organized by the Tourism Malaysia Brunei Office and the Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office Brunei.
The "Borneo Gateway: Business Exchange (B2B)" held on the first day in Miri became one of the highlights, aiming to promote face-to-face communication and collaboration between the tourism industries of Sarawak and Brunei, further advancing cross-border tourism development.
Guests present at the exchange meeting included Dato' Haji Samed Baba, Chief Executive Officer of the Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office Brunei, Ms. Barbara Benjamin Aden, Director of the ASEAN and Domestic Market Division of the Sarawak Tourism Board, Rosdi Abdul Ghani, Deputy Director of the Tourism Malaysia Brunei Office, and Ms. Adila Mutazima Haji Abdul Rahman from the Brunei Tourism Development Department.
The day's activities included special sharing sessions by the Sarawak Tourism Board, the Sarawak Convention Bureau, and Brunei Tourism, along with a tea party and exchange session enabling the tourism practitioners from both regions to engage in in-depth discussions on product and market promotion.
The familiarization trip itinerary covers Miri, Bintulu, Mukah, and Sibu, visiting attractions such as the Floating Temple, Kidurong Industrial Zone, Bintulu Central Market, the traditional Melanau village of Kampung Tellian, Linut Batik experience, Umai tasting, Rajang River cruise, Sibu Cultural Heritage Center, and Sibu Central Market, allowing participants to gain a deep understanding of Sarawak's unique cultural and eco-tourism resources.
Dato' Haji Samed Baba from the Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office Brunei stated that this event showcases the results of close collaboration between the three parties and provides Brunei travel agents with valuable firsthand information, giving them more confidence to promote Sarawak as a treasure trove to tourists.
This plan not only broadens market channels but will also lead to more cross-border tourism packages and joint promotional activities, aiding in creating a more attractive and sustainable tourism ecosystem between Brunei and Sarawak.
