After US President Trump announced a 90-day suspension of tariffs on countries other than China, US Treasury Secretary Beisent on the 9th stated that this move is precisely part of Trump's 'grand strategy' that has long been in place, and the US has successfully 'forced China into a mistake'.
He said: 'This is the original intention of his (Trump's) strategy. It can be said that he (Trump) forced China onto the wrong path.'
He stated that not only is China not included in this 'tariff suspension', but China will also face pressure from a new round of tariffs.
He said the reason the US continues to impose tariffs on China is because 'China's economic policies have become a major challenge facing the world'.
He bluntly pointed out that China is the most unbalanced economy in modern history. China is the main trade challenge facing the US and indeed poses a threat to the global economy.
He also stated that the high tariffs imposed by the US have led to a large amount of cheap Chinese products 'flooding into the European market', impacting the global trade system.
In addition, US Presidential Senior Advisor Miller further praised Trump for demonstrating 'superior strategy' and 'bold decisiveness', believing that this move will 'effectively isolate China'.
