(Miri, 15th) The Brunei Tourism Development Board is holding a Brunei Coffee Trail promotion today and tomorrow at Miri Star City Shopping Plaza, with Miri Mayor and Pujut State Assemblyman, YB Adam Yii, officiating the opening ceremony.
Salinah, acting director of the Brunei Tourism Development Board, mentioned in her speech at the event that this is the board's first event in Miri, providing an excellent opportunity to showcase Brunei's growing coffee culture, as well as our destination's tourism products and famous attractions.
She stated that coffee and tourism are increasingly intertwined, as coffee is not just a beverage that you or I enjoy. As more destinations incorporate coffee into their tourist experiences, it enhances the overall journey for visitors while also complementing the country's selection of attractions.
“In the past few years, Brunei has successfully hosted a series of coffee events, and various coffee courses and workshops, where local baristas showcased their skills and innovations. These events have played a significant role in elevating Brunei's coffee industry, providing a platform for local and international coffee enthusiasts to gather, celebrate the art of brewing, and share knowledge.”
She pointed out that to highlight the potential of coffee culture as a niche tourism product in Brunei, the Tourism Development Board published the 'Brunei Coffee Journey Guide' last year, aiming to attract more visitors, especially local and international coffee enthusiasts. This guide curates a journey through the country's coffee attractions, making it an essential companion for anyone wanting to explore the nation's coffee industry.
“As we focus on the growing connections between Brunei and Miri, it is essential to recognize coffee plays a key role as a niche experience in bridging borders. This cross-border exchange serves as a gateway to explore the natural, cultural, and adventure activities of both countries."
The event is open from today noon to 8 p.m. and on the 16th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
