74-year-old mainland Chinese actress Liu Xiaoqing was arrested in 2002 due to tax issues, detained for 422 days at that time. After being released, she made a comeback, but recently she was reported by a 'Mr. Wang from Shenzhen'. It is alleged that she used a small company she established to categorize 3.3 million RMB (approximately 1.95 million MYR) in loans as 'image endorsement fees', transforming it into personal income. Her company issued multiple low tax-rate invoices, suspected of evading taxes. Following the news exposure, her personal studio has yet to respond.

According to mainland media 'YouDian Entertainment', 'Mr. Wang from Shenzhen' reported to the Shanghai Tax Bureau, claiming Liu Xiaoqing's investment, Shanghai Yixi Cultural Media Center, was established in 2017 with a registered capital of only 30,000 RMB (approximately 17,000 MYR), lacking any actual business premises or employees, yet issuing large quantities of invoices. The whistleblower, Mr. Wang, pointed out that the company issued 6% VAT invoices to avoid more than 27% personal income tax, an act of tax evasion.

Liu Xiaoqing plays a key role as the male lead Liu Yuning's grandmother in the popular new drama 'Bending the Waist'. The drama had been delayed due to the lead actress Song Zuer's tax issues from 2 years ago and has just been released. With the drama only airing for 2 days, viewers worry it might be affected again due to Liu Xiaoqing's situation. Many fans lament, 'My 'Bending the Waist', I don’t want it to be bent again', 'Liu Yuning is having such a hard time, I want to watch his drama.'
