Lee Kim Shin: Mid-Autumn Activities Inherit Culture and Unite Community with Vitality

(Miri, 21st) Sarawak Minister of Transport, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, stated that the Mid-Autumn Festival not only symbolizes reunion and harmony, but also carries important significance for cultural heritage. Through activities such as making mooncakes and Lei Cha, the younger generation can better understand Chinese traditional culture, while also promoting community cohesion and interaction.

He made these remarks while delivering a speech at the mooncake and Lei Cha making activity and the 2025 Mid-Autumn Festival gathering, organized by SUPP Lambir Branch at their activity center this morning.

He said that Sarawak is a multicultural and multi-religious society, in which people of all ethnic backgrounds live harmoniously and are free to celebrate their respective traditional festivals. This diversity and inclusivity is a major advantage for Sarawak, and it showcases the vibrancy of society.

"Culture plays an important role in the development of a country. We not only need to inherit our own culture, but also mutually respect and learn from the cultures of other ethnic groups, so as to deepen understanding and unity among different communities."

He pointed out that the mooncake and Lei Cha making activity organized by the Lambir branch is a true reflection of the spirit of unity and sharing. Mooncakes symbolize reunion, while Lei Cha represents cooperation and healthy eating. These activities allow community members to learn, communicate, and interact together in a joyful atmosphere, further enhancing their connections and friendship.

Lee Kim Shin also especially encouraged the younger generation to actively participate in traditional festivals and cultural activities, to avoid the gradual loss of excellent traditions. He hopes that more young people will join such activities in the future, learn how to make mooncakes and traditional delicacies, and pass on the culture from generation to generation.

"Lei Cha is a healthy delicacy, rich in vegetables, non-greasy, and not only in line with the modern pursuit of a healthy lifestyle, but also well worth promoting. I hope everyone will put what they have learned about Lei Cha today into practice at home, and together promote the concept of healthy eating and a healthy society," he said.

He stressed that SUPP upholds the spirit of "people-oriented", not only serving the people politically, but also playing a cohesive role through cultural and social activities. The Lambir branch has long organized meaningful activities, showing the warmth and unity of the community.

"I firmly believe that with the joint efforts of the Lambir branch leadership and party members, SUPP will continue to be the reliance of the community and the voice of the people. Let us unite and gather strength while celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival, and lay a more solid foundation for the future of Sarawak."
