Lost Control and Fell Into Ditch in the Early Morning, 22-Year-Old Female Driver Killed

(Miri, 22nd) — Miri District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Lee Bing Qiang stated in a press release that at about 1:20am on May 22, 2026, a fatal traffic accident occurred at Kampung Hanus, Bekenu.
The police confirmed that a report of a fatal car accident had been received, involving a Perodua Axia driven by a 22-year-old local female driver.
Preliminary police investigations found that at the time of the incident, the deceased was driving from Bekenu town to Kampung Hanus when she is believed to have lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off the left side of the road and fall into a ditch.
This accident resulted in the female driver being confirmed dead at the scene.

This case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the 1987 Road Transport Act.
