(Bandar Seri Begawan, 7th) Chinese Ambassador to Brunei Xiao Jianguo expressed that he was pleased to once again be invited, after a year, to attend the Awards Ceremony of the 7th Brunei National Primary School On-Site Chinese Creative Writing Competition. On this occasion, he also extended warm congratulations on behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Brunei for the successful organization of the event, conveyed heartfelt blessings to all the award-winning students, and thanked all the teachers, organizers, and members from all walks of life for their dedication and support.
This year’s competition attracted more than 400 Bruneian students, including 218 Chinese students and 199 students from other ethnic groups. Ambassador Xiao Jianguo pointed out that the students used words to build bridges of cultural communication, and through their sincere creations, demonstrated their understanding and identification with Chinese culture, injecting vigorous energy into Chinese education and cross-cultural exchange.
"You are inheritors of Chinese culture and, even more so, promoters of the exchange between civilizations. I hope you will continue the strokes of Chinese characters, the rhythm of poetry, and the wisdom of idioms generation after generation. I also hope that you will use Chinese to open up more possibilities for cultural exchanges between the two countries, enabling more Bruneian friends to learn, understand, and fall in love with Chinese language."
He encouraged the students to "learn Chinese, understand Chinese, love Chinese, and use Chinese to express your dreams," and hoped that they would express themselves confidently and consciously carry on the tradition in the Chinese-speaking world, thus using creativity to further deepen China-Brunei relations.
Ambassador Xiao also took this opportunity to briefly introduce the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and the upcoming implementation of the Fifteenth Five-Year Plan. He noted that the Fourth Plenary Session made clear the need to promote the Party’s construction and national governance modernization in the new era, boost high-quality development, strengthen cultural development and people’s welfare, and deepen reform. China’s “15th Five-Year Plan” will continue to be guided by a new development philosophy, strengthen scientific and technological self-reliance, advance green and low-carbon development, and pursue a higher level of openness.
“A China that continues reform and opening up and is firmly committed to peaceful development will always be an important force for world prosperity and stability.”
He emphasized that China is willing to work hand in hand with all walks of life in Brunei to carry out more people-to-people exchanges and cooperation, solidify the public opinion foundation of China-Brunei friendly relations, and make greater contributions to the building of a community with a shared future for Chinese language.
Ambassador Xiao Jianguo once again congratulated all the winners, encouraged everyone to continue to work diligently and innovate courageously, wishing the event complete success, Chinese education to thrive, and the friendship between China and Brunei to last forever.
