Chinese male actor Wang Xing was reportedly tricked into going to Thailand for filming, only to be taken to Myawaddy, Myanmar, where he became a trafficking victim and had his head shaved. Fortunately, he was eventually rescued. However, the incident also affected Cantopop king Eason Chan from Hong Kong, who was scheduled to perform in Bangkok's IMPACT ARENA this February. The concert was announced as canceled on the 10th.
Eason Chan announced the cancellation of his concert on the 10th. There was speculation that the cancellation was due to poor sales for the Bangkok concert; however, tickets had actually sold out last year. The organizers stated that after considering safety concerns for fans traveling to Thailand from China and other regions, discussions were held with Eason Chan, his management team, and the relevant Bangkok execution company. It was decided to cancel the Bangkok concert, with refunds available from today.
Eason Chan's concert in Bangkok, scheduled for February 22, had long been sold out, with fans from around the world and Thailand eagerly anticipating the event. Unfortunately, due to the recent Wang Xing incident, various claims were circulating online about the dangers of traveling to Thailand. There were even imposters pretending to be scammers, sending messages warning that they were targeting fans coming to see Eason Chan's concert in Thailand, causing much online discussion and panic.
Now, the organizers of Eason Chan's Bangkok concert have officially announced the cancellation of the February show for the safety of fans, asking fans to follow the online procedures for refunds. Eason Chan's manager, Ganchi, stated that they have indeed seen a lot of news in recent days, and after discussions about the situation: "We don't want any fans from around the world, or their families, to have concerns about their personal safety while coming to Thailand for the concert. So we decided to look for another suitable time to hold a concert there. Of course, we know that many local Thai immigrants and Chinese overseas are very disappointed with this cancellation, and we are genuinely sorry. We hope to go there someday in the future."
