(Miri, 15th) Sarawak Miri Hoppo Clan Association President Chua Chuan Chuang stated that parents are the starting point of life, and children should always remember the gratitude of being raised, do their utmost to care for and support their parents, and take time to visit home and reunite with family even amidst their busy schedules.
He said that filial piety should be practiced in a timely manner, and not be delayed until the regretful moment of "a child wanting to take care, but the parents no longer around."
He made these remarks in his speech during the association's "June Senior Birthday Celebration, Parents' Day and Dragon Boat Festival Celebration" held yesterday. Sarawak Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin was also present at the event.
He said that parents endure the toil of pregnancy, nurturing, and educating their children. Their kindness is as immense as mountains and as lasting as flowing water, and deserves lifelong gratitude and reciprocation from their children.
Chua pointed out that this year marks the 48th anniversary of the association. Over the years, they have adhered to holding a senior get-together and birthday celebration on the second Sunday of each month as one of the benefits for association members, giving members opportunities to gather, interact, and foster clan bonds.
He said that by celebrating birthdays for senior members, not only does it convey care, but it also allows elders to feel warmth and a sense of belonging, making the association like one big family.
He expressed his gratitude to the Women's Division members for preparing a rich array of food and celebrating Parents' Day and the Dragon Boat Festival together with fellow clansmen in a warm and lively atmosphere.
He also congratulated the members whose birthdays fall in June, wishing them a happy birthday, good health, and all the best.
Chua Chuan Chuang also called on the younger generation to actively join the association and participate in various activities. He also hopes parents can take the lead in ensuring the association's spirit is passed down through generations.
