(Bandar Seri Begawan, 1st) The Immigration and National Registration Department detained 11 foreign nationals for violations during a series of enforcement actions.
The department reminds the public that under Chapter 17, Section 9(4) of the Immigration Act, it is illegal to work using a visit pass without authorization. Offenders may face a maximum fine of BND 2,000, imprisonment of up to six months, or both.
This enforcement operation included three "inspection actions" carried out separately in Gadong and Berakas.
During Inspection No. 89/2025 conducted at a restaurant in Gadong Zone B, four foreigners were checked. Two of them were detained on suspicion of working while holding visit passes. In Operation No. 90/2025 at a parking lot in the same area, two more foreigners were arrested for the same offense.
Meanwhile, in Operation No. 92/2025 at a rental house in Berakas Zone B, eight foreigners were checked, of whom seven were detained. Six were suspected of working while holding visit passes, and one was found to have violated Section 15(2) of the Immigration Act by working for an employer not specified on the pass.
