(Miri, 15th) Sarawak Deputy Minister of Tourism and Piasau State Assemblyman, Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, announced today at the SUPP Piasau Service Centre that his team will set up service counters at the Miri Indoor Stadium from 9am to 4pm this Saturday and Sunday (August 16–17), providing mobile registration services for the Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) and the Senior Citizen Health Benefits (SCHB) schemes, making it convenient for senior citizens aged 60 and above or their families to process the relevant applications on-site.
"Previously, the general process could take two to three months. This time, bringing card approval and production directly to the community makes things much more convenient for senior citizens and their families."
To apply for the Kenyalang Gold Card, applicants need to bring photocopies of both the identity cards of the senior citizen and their next of kin. To apply for SCHB, only a photocopy of the senior citizen’s identity card is needed. Eligible persons may also have family members apply or collect on their behalf.
The event will also set up a health service counter offering basic health screening and consultation (such as blood sugar checks, basic oral/dental exams, etc.). In addition, Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) will have a booth introducing smart meters, appointment booking for meter replacement, mobile app registration, and e-billing services; HOTLINK will be handing out free SIM cards.
Sebastian Ting calls on all eligible senior citizens aged 60 and above (according to the date of birth) and their families to take the opportunity to register and make good use of the many free health and public services on site.
"We will arrange enough personnel to assist those with mobility issues or the elderly, and family members are welcome to register on their behalf—it is not necessary for the person concerned to be present, making it even more convenient for the community."
He also reminded the public to stagger their time of arrival and avoid crowding and long queues at 9am.
Those accompanying him at the press conference included SUPP Piasau branch secretary, event organizing chairperson and Miri City Councillor Kelvin Chia, Youth Chief and Miri City Councillor Leslie, Women’s Chief TAN LI FOONG, and Miri City Councillors Lisa and Chai Wei Yii.
