The representative of the Korean YouTube channel "Horizontal Research Institute," Kim Se-yi (previously translated as Kim Sei-ui), was detained at the end of May by court order for allegedly using AI to doctor audio recordings and spreading false rumors about male celebrity Kim Soo-hyun. According to the latest reports, Kim Se-yi, who is currently being held at the Seoul Detention Center, has unusually been granted permission to stay in a "single-person cell," because he claimed his personal safety was under threat.

Previously, during his livestreams, Kim Se-yi maliciously fabricated rumors that Kim Soo-hyun dated Kim Sae-ron when she was underage and even pressured her over debt, leading to her alleged suicide attempt. After investigation, prosecutors and police confirmed that the KakaoTalk screenshots and audio files he released were maliciously created using AI. Additionally, millionaire influencer 'Business God' Eun Yeon-jang—who was previously accused by Kim Se-yi of stock manipulation—has also warned after Kim Se-yi's imprisonment, "Don’t think you’ll have it easy in there." These various grudges left Kim Se-yi in fear for his safety in prison, resulting in his successful application for a single-person cell.
