Pei Min Middle School Math Elites Win Gold in AMO and Top Honors in MiMAS

(Miri, 8th) Fourteen gifted students from Pei Min Middle School excelled in the American Mathematics Olympiad (AMO) and the International Mathematics and Mental Arithmetic Olympiad (MiMAS), with the related award certificates recently arriving at the school.

The competition was held in 2024. In the tenth grade category of the American Mathematics Olympiad (AMO), Zheng Yurui won the gold award; Guan Yinuo and Qiu Xinzhi received the silver award; Lin Houle, Li Jiahua, and Huang Jiaxin received the bronze award.

In the mathematics group of the International Mathematics and Mental Arithmetic Olympiad, Liu Yousheng was awarded distinction; Lin Wanhao and Wu Yujie were awarded merit; Qian Xiangen, Chai koh vui, and Qiu Xinzhi received the bronze award. In the mental arithmetic group, Shen Yuxuan received distinction; Hong Xinyi, Qiu Xinzhi, and Qiu Kexin received credit.

Principal of Pei Min, Bei Meijiao, stated that Pei Min's education aligns with the national New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) and the National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS), targeting to cultivate 60,000 engineers, dedicated to nurturing technology talents with innovative thinking and the ability to solve real-world problems.

She mentioned that as one of the foundational disciplines of science and technology, Pei Min will continue to enhance science education for students, particularly in mathematics knowledge, to help students better adapt to future technology development needs.

Bei Meijiao expressed high praise for the award-winning students and also thanked the support and encouragement from mathematics teachers and parents, whose combined efforts provided an ideal growth platform for the students.
