(Miri, 13th) The Malaysian Minister of Works, Dato' Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, stated that the federal government will allocate over 120 million Malaysian Ringgit next year for the construction of the 'Red Line' road project.
He mentioned that this 136-kilometer road is not part of the Pan Borneo Highway construction plan, thus it is referred to as the 'Red Line'. The new construction project is expected to cost between 700 to 800 million Malaysian Ringgit.
During a press conference after the opening ceremony of the 2nd Borneo Infrastructure Conference, Alexander Nanta Linggi mentioned that under the 2025 budget recently approved by the Prime Minister in Parliament, Sarawak will receive an allocation of 5.91 billion Malaysian Ringgit.
It is learned that the 'Red Line' refers to the original route planned before the construction of the Pan Borneo Highway, involving the regions of Kuching, Serian, Sibu, Bintulu, Selangau, and Miri.
He also pointed out that the federal government will collaborate with the Sarawak government on the Miri Airport expansion project, and together they will also build the Sarawak Cancer Center.
'The construction of the second phase of the Sarawak-Sabah Link Road (SSLR), costing 7 billion Malaysian Ringgit, has already commenced.'
