After the U.S. military raided Venezuela and captured Venezuelan President Maduro and his wife, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, during a meeting with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dar, said that the sudden change in the situation in Venezuela has attracted great international attention, emphasizing that “we have never believed that any country can act as the international police, nor do we agree with any country self-styling as an international judge.”

According to a statement published on the official website of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the 4th in Beijing, Wang Yi told Dar—during the China-Pakistan Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue—that the current international situation is even more chaotic and intertwined, with unilateral bullying growing increasingly rampant. The sudden change in Venezuela’s situation has attracted great attention from the international community. A spokesperson from the Chinese Foreign Ministry has already stated China’s position.

Wang Yi said, “We have never believed that any country can act as the international police, nor do we agree with any country self-styling as an international judge. The sovereignty and security of all countries should be fully protected by international law. We have consistently opposed the use or threat of force in international relations, and oppose imposing the will of one country upon another.” China is willing to work with the international community, including Pakistan, to firmly uphold the UN Charter, adhere to the basic norms of international morality, insist on the equality of all countries’ sovereignty, and jointly safeguard world peace and development.

In the early hours of the 3rd, the U.S. military raided the Venezuelan capital Caracas and captured Maduro and his wife to be taken to the United States for prosecution, causing international shock. On Saturday night, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the first time issued a statement in the form of a spokesperson answering reporters' questions, strongly condemning the United States’ flagrant use of force against a sovereign country and stating firm opposition to the U.S.'s serious violation of international law and hegemonic actions.
