Chinese actress Fan Bingbing won Best Actress at the 62nd Golden Horse Awards for her role in Malaysian film Mother of Earth. Due to China banning the Golden Horse Awards since 2019 and Fan Bingbing's past involvement in a tax evasion controversy, news of her win was censored on Chinese social media platforms like Weibo, Xiaohongshu, and Douyin. Fan herself revealed on Weibo that while she was replying to messages and eating crab, her studio’s congratulatory post disappeared as well. Late at night on the 23rd, she switched to posting on IG, Threads, and Facebook to finally share her Golden Horse trophy photos openly, though she still carefully avoided mentioning “Golden Horse” or “Taiwan.”

Fan Bingbing posted photos of herself with director Chong Keat Aun, her on-screen children, Bai Runyin and Xu Enyi, at the Golden Horse Awards and at the post-awards banquet, as well as work photos from filming in Kedah. Due to her tax evasion case, Fan Bingbing remains semi-blacklisted in China. Even her brother, entertainer Fan Chengcheng, did not post congratulations for her. Instead, it was her female celebrity friends whose friendship stood out.
