The United States and Russia are seeking to reach an agreement to end the war in Ukraine, which would recognize the territories occupied by Russia since its military operation as belonging to Russia.
According to Bloomberg, US and Russian officials are discussing a compromise plan regarding these territories.
The report states that the proposed agreement could include the Russian side halting its offensive along the current front lines in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.
However, the White House indicated that the Bloomberg report is "speculative."
In addition, Ukrainian President Zelensky wrote on social media that he has noticed a "consensus" among various parties is forming to end the war.
Russia has officially declared sovereignty over Ukraine's Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions, as well as Crimea, which was annexed by Russia in 2014, but Russian forces do not fully control all of the claimed areas.
