Resigning as Perikatan Nasional Chairman Not a Sign of Weakness — Muhyiddin: A Strategic Step Back

(Kuala Lumpur, 2nd) Former Perikatan Nasional (PN) Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin emphasized in his New Year's message that he is still the president of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), and called on all party members in the new year to further strengthen cooperation, enhance unity, and be vigilant against any factors that could potentially cause internal divisions.

Muhyiddin pointed out that although he no longer leads PN, Bersatu will remain a principled, consistent, and loyal partner, continuing to maintain its cooperative relationship with PN, and is committed to safeguarding the coalition's stability and overall strength.

He said that in the current challenging political environment, the party’s primary task is to ensure Bersatu’s continuity, overall strength, and long-term future.

“Sometimes, we need to temporarily take a step back. This is not a sign of weakness, but a strategic choice, with the aim of consolidating our foundation, reorganizing the leadership team, and building a party force that is more organized and sustainable.”

Muhyiddin also urged all members to stay firm and disciplined, uphold a political culture of mutual respect, and handle any differences in a rational, mature, and low-profile manner, prioritizing the party and overall interests above all else.
