(Kuching, 25th) The support line for an electric pole installed by Sarawak Electricity Supply Corporation (Sesco) at Lot 266, Zone 43, Westwood Lane 2, blocks the driveway of one of the garages, causing inconvenience in entering and exiting.
It is reported that the garage of the residence could originally park two cars side by side, but the obstruction by the support line has prevented the resident from normally parking cars in the garage.
On this matter, Democratic Action Party Sarawak Chairman Chong Chieng Jen's special assistant, Jiang Fengnian, admitted that this is yet another typical example of Sesco failing to plan properly and blatantly disregarding the rights of the residents, bringing unnecessary trouble to them.
More shockingly, he said that when the homeowner contacted Sesco to request the removal of the obstructive pole and support line, the company instead asked the homeowner for a removal fee of up to RM11,200, an act that is not only unreasonable but also utterly unacceptable.
Jiang Fengnian stated that this is similar to the case they handled earlier for Mr. Wong, where Sesco attempted to have the public bear the cost of their own issues, repeatedly highlighting the company's unwillingness to take responsibility for its problems.
Sesco should not push its mistakes onto the public, making them bear their faults. Although Sesco did not occupy this resident's land to install the electric pole support line, they blatantly ignored the homeowner's rights, resulting in the garage being unable to operate normally for parking and causing inconvenience in entering and exiting.
In view of this, he expressed that he will assist the homeowner in writing to Sesco, requesting them to waive this unreasonable fee and take immediate action to remove the electric pole and support line free of charge.
Jiang Fengnian believes that Sesco must take responsibility for its mistakes, rectify the issue quickly, and ensure that homeowners are not penalized for Sesco's own errors. This pertains to a matter of responsibility, and Sesco must be accountable to the public.
