(Kuala Lumpur, 27th) – The recent abnormal heat has prompted the Meteorological Department to issue a Level 1 heat alert for 15 areas nationwide. The regions suffering from days-long heatwaves are mostly in Northern Malaysia, including Perlis, Kedah, and Perak!
According to information released by the Meteorological Department on Sunday (April 26), the Level 1 heat areas cover the entire state of Perlis, while in Kedah, it includes Kubang Pasu, Pokok Sena, Pendang, Padang Terap, Kota Setar, Kuala Muda, and Sik.
As for Perak, the upper region (Hulu Perak) will be facing high temperatures, while on the East Coast of Kelantan, Machang and Pasir Mas are under a heat blanket.
The same alert has also been issued for the Beaufort area in Sabah and three regions in Sarawak—Kapit, Limbang, and Marudi.
According to the Meteorological Department, a Level 1 (alert) heatwave status is issued when a region records daily maximum temperatures of 35 to 37 degrees Celsius for at least three consecutive days.
