The key figure in the Sabah mining exploration license case, Datuk Diao Jiancheng, on Wednesday brought more than 50 pages of evidence and went to both Putrajaya Police Station and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters to lodge reports, requesting an investigation into former MACC chief Tan Sri Azam Baki for allegedly attempting to hinder his revelations regarding the mining exploration license case.
However, when lodging a report at the MACC, Diao Jiancheng was refused permission to be accompanied by two lawyers. As a result, he angrily gave up on filing his report there and instead left a copy of his police report at the security post before leaving the MACC headquarters.
Diao Jiancheng first went to the police station this morning (13th) to file a report, then walked with his team to the MACC headquarters, where he gave a statement to the media before attempting to lodge his report at MACC.

However, upon entering the MACC, as only one lawyer was allowed to accompany him, Diao Jiancheng's original plan to have both a male and a female lawyer accompany him led to a lengthy argument with MACC officials, after which he ultimately gave up.
According to Diao Jiancheng's later explanation to the media, he was concerned that if the MACC assigned a female officer to handle his report, there would be various inconveniences. Therefore, he wanted a female lawyer to accompany him.
“The officer said it was an instruction from upper management, allowing me to have only one lawyer present during the report, not that it was standard procedure.”
When briefing reporters outside the MACC premises about the situation, one of the MACC officials approached and agreed to his request.
However, Diao Jiancheng refused and insisted that the MACC issue a written letter clearly stating that he could be accompanied by both a male and a female lawyer before he would proceed to lodge the report at the MACC.
