(Miri, 15th) – The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Senadin Branch Women’s Wing recently organized a “Fragrant Dumplings Bonding, Celebrate Dragon Boat Festival” event, which attracted numerous Women’s Wing members, Youth Wing members, and community residents. Everyone gathered to make rice dumplings and enjoy delicacies together, spending a warm and joyous Dragon Boat Festival.
Joint Organizing Chairlady, Woo Mei Fen, said in her speech that the Dragon Boat Festival is one of the most important traditional festivals of the Chinese people. It not only carries profound cultural significance, but also symbolizes unity, care, and heritage.
She added that by holding Dragon Boat Festival celebrations, everyone has the opportunity to experience traditional customs and feel the unique charm of Chinese culture. It also promotes neighborly interaction and strengthens mutual friendship and cohesion.
She expressed her gratitude to Senadin State Assemblyman Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin for taking the time to attend the event, adding grace to the occasion. She also thanked the Women’s Wing Head, all executive committee members, Youth Wing members, and Women’s Wing sisters for their active participation and support.
She pointed out that the smooth running of this event was thanks to the sisters of the Women’s Wing for their enthusiastic sponsorship and selfless contributions. From event planning, procurement preparation, venue decoration to food ingredient preparation, every step condensed everyone’s effort and dedication, fully demonstrating the spirit of teamwork.
Additionally, she gave special thanks to all organizing committee members and sponsoring sisters for their tremendous support, which enabled the event to be successfully completed.
Besides dumpling-making and tasting a variety of dishes at the event, a uniquely designed dragon boat display became the focal point of the venue.
Woo Mei Fen disclosed that the dragon boat display was meticulously crafted by the event emcee, Chen Meili, and her daughter, showcasing creativity and ingenuity. It also reflected the meaning of parent-child collaboration and the passing down of Chinese traditional culture, winning unanimous praise from attendees.
She hopes more similar cultural activities can continue to be held in the future, so that the younger generation has the opportunity to access and understand traditional Chinese festive culture, jointly promoting the inheritance and development of outstanding traditional culture.
