Hollywood action superstar Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson recently revealed in an interview for the first time that he once suffered from testicular pain and discovered a lump, casting a shadow over his life as he feared he might have cancer — the most agonizing period he’s experienced.
The Rock, already a renowned action star, shared this harrowing story for the first time during an interview with fashion magazine Esquire. He recalled that one day while showering, he unexpectedly found a lump on his left testicle which was also painful when touched. After seeing a doctor, he was initially diagnosed with “epididymitis,” but the doctor warned that cancer could not be ruled out and advised him to undergo further ultrasound examinations.
At the time, The Rock was busy promoting the movie Jumanji. Anxious and worried, he had to wait 24 hours before receiving the results, forcing himself to keep up appearances at public events. Out of fear of worrying his wife, he didn’t tell her about the ordeal and chose to bear the pressure alone. Fortunately, the results turned out to be a false alarm. “I had to keep smiling, joking, and giving speeches throughout the whole day, but deep inside, I didn’t know whether I had cancer,” The Rock explained. He clarified that the reason for not letting his wife know sooner was that he didn’t want to trouble his family when the situation was still unclear: “Before I knew how serious it was, I didn’t want her to worry about me.”
