Car Tire Burst Causes Overturn and Fire - Bystanders Rescue Family of 3, 10-Month-Old Baby Seriously Injured

(Batu Pahat, 1st) – A car accident in the early hours resulted in injuries to a family of three, among whom a 10-month-old baby girl was seriously injured and rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.

The accident occurred at around 2:40 am on February 28th, at the 19th kilometer of the Kluang to Batu Pahat road, in front of Tun Hussein Onn University Malaysia (UTHM).

Batu Pahat District Police Chief Sharul Anuar stated that preliminary investigations showed the car was driven by a 26-year-old local man, with his 41-year-old wife and their 10-month-old baby girl onboard.

He said the accident is suspected to have been caused by a sudden tire burst, causing the car to lose control, veer off the road, and overturn.

“The male driver sustained injuries to his left hand and his wife suffered a head injury. Both have been sent to Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital for treatment; as for the baby girl, her injuries are more severe and she is currently receiving emergency care.” He said in a statement.

According to videos circulating from the scene, the area beside the car caught fire after the accident, but fortunately, enthusiastic members of the public quickly stepped in to help extinguish the flames and assisted in rescuing the trapped family of three.

From the footage, the car was severely damaged, and many passing drivers also stopped and joined the rescue efforts, making the scene quite tense for a time.
