Trump Pins Threatening Post on Social Platform to Strike Iran - US Media: Considering Launching Airstrikes

Published at Jan 30, 2026 02:14 pm
On Eastern Time 29th, US President Trump pinned his post threatening to strike Iran on a public platform, sparking speculation that US military action against Iran could be imminent. According to US media reports, the Trump administration is considering launching fierce airstrikes against Iran, with options including directly attacking Iranian leaders or security officials. Trump later stated that he plans to engage in dialogue with Iran and "hopes" not to use force.

On social media, Trump claimed that a massive fleet is now heading toward Iran, even larger than the one sent to Venezuela, hoping that Iran would return to the negotiating table soon and reach a non-nuclear agreement. Trump also warned that if Iran is unwilling to agree, the US's next strike against Iran would be "far more devastating" than last summer's US military attack on Iran's nuclear facilities.

● Plans to Hold Dialogue with Iran, Hopes to Avoid Using Force

Later, at the premiere of a documentary about his wife Melania, Trump told reporters that he hoped to avoid taking military action against Iran and said he plans to hold further talks with Tehran over a possible nuclear agreement.

He said: "Right now, we have many very large and powerful ships heading toward Iran. It would be great if we ultimately don't have to use them."

As large numbers of US troops assemble in the region, Trump asked Hegseth for comments on the situation during a cabinet meeting. Hegseth stated that the US military will be prepared to carry out any decision Trump makes regarding Iran, to ensure that Tehran does not seek to develop nuclear weapons capability.

● Reportedly US Presented 3 Demands to Iran

The New York Times reported that US and European officials presented Iran with three demands during negotiations: (1) permanently halt all uranium enrichment activities; (2) limit the range and quantity of its ballistic missiles; (3) cease all support for proxy groups in the Middle East.

CNN and other foreign media quoted sources saying that options Trump is considering include airstrikes on Iranian leaders and security officials, as well as attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities and government institutions, but no final decision has yet been made.

Foreign media noted that after Iran's large-scale crackdown on anti-government protests, Trump is now considering strikes on commanders and institutions the US believes are responsible for the violent repression, hoping to boost protesters' confidence in seizing government and security department buildings.
