(Si City, 15th) Ji De Care Association’s ‘Cultural School’ lecturer Shen Renxiang has served in the field of education for half a century, receiving the grand slam of the Overseas Community Affairs Council’s ‘Outstanding Overseas Teacher Long-Term Service Award’. Recently, Shen was presented with the 50-Year Long-term Service Award by Hsiao Sheng-chung, the representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brunei, further crowning his illustrious educational career.
The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brunei hosted the ‘Outstanding Overseas Teacher Long-Term Service Award’ ceremony on September 28. As Shen was abroad at that time, he received the award on a later date.
Shen Renxiang has devoted over half a century to his educational career, nurturing talents and making remarkable contributions. Previously, he had already received several long-term service awards granted by the Overseas Community Affairs Council, including the 10-year award (1985), 25-year award (2000), 30-year award (2005), and 40-year award (2015). With this latest 50-year award, he has accomplished a “grand slam” of long-term service honors. Moreover, in 2022, he received the prestigious ‘Shiduo Award’, which is granted every two years to only ten individuals worldwide, demonstrating the international recognition of his achievements in education.
Shen’s accomplishments go beyond the field of education. In 2020, he won first place in News Writing and Reporting in the ‘World Chinese Literary Works Award’ organized by the Taiwan Overseas Chinese Federation, showcasing his versatile talent and influence.
In addition to multiple honors received in Taiwan, he has also been recognized by relevant organizations in China: In 1999, he was awarded the title of ‘Outstanding Overseas Chinese Education Worker’ by the State Council's Overseas Chinese Affairs Office; in 2007, he received the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award in Overseas Chinese Education’; in 1999, Jilin Province awarded him the ‘International Art Education Outstanding Gardener Award’. Since 2001, he has received the ‘Chinese Youth Essay Competition Instructor Award’ from the China Education Association for consecutive years; in 2006, he received the ‘Art Education Contribution Honor Award’ from the China Hard Pen Calligraphy Association; and from 2010 to 2024, he continually received the ‘Gardener Gold Award’ for Children’s Painting and Calligraphy Art.
Over the past fifty years, Shen Renxiang’s diligent efforts and outstanding contributions in education and culture have earned him wide acclaim and respect from all walks of life, making his achievements a model for overseas Chinese language educators.
