Just Crowned Singing Champion, Jaclyn Victor Ventures into Acting to Pay Tribute to Single Mothers

Astro has officially launched its 30th anniversary celebrations, introducing a series of brand new TV movies, dramas, programs, and events. Local singer Jaclyn Victor, who just clinched the championship title in "Singer 2026 Malaysia Edition," is now crossing over into acting, taking on the challenge of playing a very cool single mother in the Malay TV movie "Dear Amma."

Jaclyn laughed and said that she is mainly a singer, and although she has acted before, this is a rare opportunity for her to speak Tamil in a drama, which she feels is a great honor and a chance to challenge herself. She admitted that she really liked the story of "Dear Amma," which revolves around single mothers and family, and since her own mother was also a single mother, she resonated with the role deeply. “Even single mothers can take care of their children and give them a good life—that’s exactly what my mother did for us,” she shared. She also joked that she really loves the “cool mom” character she played.
Huang Ruoxi plays the photographer Elsa in Twilight Mansion, saying that the story is not just about suspense and fantasy, but also centers on people and their struggles to let go.
Besides Jaclyn, other celebrities such as Saiful Apek, Aznil Nawawi (Pak Nil), Huang Ruoxi, Hael Husaini, and Charles Roberts made appearances at Astro’s 30th Anniversary media launch on the 13th, sharing their behind-the-scenes experiences of participating in the new dramas, TV movies, and programs. The main characters of documentary "TEKAD: Ekspedisi Guthrie Everest 2026"—Malaysian mountaineer Mohd Khafiz Bachok (Kicok) and 57-year-old Margaret Chew—were also present to share their experiences climbing Mount Everest.

Astro will be rolling out multiple new productions, with key programs including Chinese dramas "Wolong" and "Twilight Mansion," Tamil dramas "Visham" and "Mounam Pesiyadhe," and Malay TV movies "Dear Amma," "Gitu Gitu Apek Return," and "Rumah Terakhir Abang." There will also be the singing program "Borneo Rising" and children's talent reality show "Tom Tom Bak."
Astro officially launches its 30th anniversary celebrations, introducing a series of film and TV content and celebration activities for viewers to enjoy together.
