Thai Foreign Minister Sihasak confirmed on Wednesday that the three Thai crew members from the cargo ship attacked while crossing the Hormuz Strait in March have been confirmed dead.
The Mayuree Naree cargo ship, flying the Thai flag, departed a port in the United Arab Emirates on March 11 and was attacked while crossing the Hormuz Strait.
Twenty Thai crew members returned home in mid-March, but three others were reported missing and were believed to be trapped in the damaged compartment.
Nearly a month after the attack, Sihasak told reporters: “Unfortunately, the three remaining crew members we finally recovered have died as a result of this incident.”
Sihasak also expressed thanks to the Omani authorities for their assistance in rescuing the 20 returning crew members.
