‘Sisters Who Make Waves 7’ First Live Show Accused of Lip-Syncing, Queen Tseng’s Group Also Faces Controversy

‘Cheng Feng 2026’ (‘Sisters Who Make Waves 7’) held its first live performance today, but was rocked by controversy over suspected lip-syncing! Among them, Kan Qingzi, Zhang Yishang, and Wen Zhengrong were the first to take the stage with their performance of ‘Wing Chun’, and were suspected to have their microphones turned off throughout, lip-syncing with pre-recorded vocals. The mouth movements didn’t match the audio several times, and even as the sisters performed large dance moves, there were no perceptible changes in their breath support. Netizens felt it was incredibly obvious that they were lip-syncing. Moreover, the on-screen indicator “Mic On” was changed to “Live,” seemingly indirectly admitting the microphones were off. Netizens furiously commented, “Am I watching a livestream just to see lip-syncing?”, “A live performance and you’re still lip-syncing? What’s the point of a live broadcast then? If you can’t sing live, just quit the industry. As for forming a group, if you can’t even accept your real singing and voice, don’t embarrass yourselves.”

Tseng Pei-Tzu led her group, which included Dan Dan and Huang Can-Can, in the second performance with the song ‘Half and Half’. This group also sparked suspicion of lip-syncing, but opinions among netizens were divided. Some pointed out that there was a microphone adjustment gesture but no audible sound, so it likely was lip-synced. However, others felt there were sounds of real-time breathing and pitch fluctuations caused by the dance, indicating it was actually sung live. Some speculated that among the three sisters, only Queen Tseng’s microphone was on. Given that her vocals were as steady as a CD in her first stage performance, if there was lip-syncing, it likely had to follow the production team’s requirements. Just as the audience thought all first live performances of the evening had been lip-synced, a few following groups appeared to be singing live, which left viewers stunned. They felt it was unfair to the groups that performed live singing while others were allowed to lip-sync.

Netizens speculated that there may have been disastrous results in previous microphone tests, such as Li Xiaoran’s group singing off-key and Kan Qingzi’s group forgetting lyrics, so the production team may have chosen to use pre-recordings to avoid another “car crash scene”. However, this contradicts the original promise of ‘Sisters Who Make Waves 7’, which emphasized all-live, real singing—essentially a self-slap in the face.

Zhao Ziqi Eliminated, Claims She Was Insulted
赵子琪成了首位淘汰的成员,事后直播分享心情。
In addition, Zhao Ziqi was eliminated by a margin of three votes, making her the first member to leave the competition. She later went live to share her feelings, bluntly stating: “Was kicked out the door,” “Was insulted by the production team,” and sighed, “I won’t come back again.” Talking about the details and grievances of the show, Zhao said after being eliminated, she was not allowed to return backstage to get her own bag; instead, it was handed to her by a staff member. She was also required to wear the show’s microphone back to the dormitory to pack her belongings: “It seemed like the production team wanted to film me packing up alone in a pitiful way, which made me feel offended.” However, she found warmth when she returned to the dorm, where the Ye Yiqian team was waiting for her. She commented, “I felt very touched.”
