(Miri, 30th) Sarawak Minister of Transport, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, held an open house event today at Dato Permai Suri Hall in Permyjaya.
In an interview with the media, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin stated that the Miri Disaster Management Center is prepared around the clock and is monitoring areas in Miri prone to landslides, such as Kampung Lereng Bukit, Kampung Abdul Wahid, and Hilltop Garden.
He mentioned that currently, the Department of Irrigation and Drainage has appointed a consultancy team to conduct a major drainage system study in Desa Senadin. Once the study is complete, the bidding process will begin.
“The Department of Irrigation and Drainage will investigate the causes of floods affecting several areas in Miri over the past few days, and the government is already conducting a study to establish a comprehensive drainage plan for Desa Senadin, Permyjaya, and Lutong areas.”
He assured that once the study is completed, improvements to the drainage systems and flow in the affected areas will begin immediately.
The open house event started at 9 AM and continued until 3 PM, attracting many community organizations and ethnic groups who came to greet Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin on the occasion.
