In the Wuzhifeng National Forest Park in Shangyou County, Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, China, a "hiker" (mountaineering enthusiast) recently fell from a cliff over 100 meters high. More than 10 hours later, he was rescued and remained conscious. The hiker may have survived the ordeal thanks to trees that buffered his fall.

On the 11th, 10 hikers were trekking in Wuzhifeng National Forest Park when one of them accidentally fell off the cliff. A woman in the group tried to rescue him but became stranded herself. At about 3 p.m. that day, local police, fire, medical departments, and several regional Blue Sky Rescue Teams arrived at the scene, first rescuing the stranded woman. Subsequently, rescuers put great effort into carrying the fallen hiker to a mountainside location but could not transport him down the mountain, so they enlisted a drone for the rescue. At around 3 a.m. on the 12th, the drone airlifted the hiker for about 2 kilometers to a safe area, after which he was taken by ambulance to a hospital.

The Wuzhifeng Township People’s Government had issued a hiking notice in 2022, warning against unauthorized climbing of undeveloped wild mountains. A staff member from the township government confirmed on the 12th that the hiker had been rescued, with details pending a government statement.
