The Dirtiest Drink on a Plane is Coffee—Flight Attendant Reveals a Shocking Connection to the Toilet

(USA, 27th) A flight attendant has revealed that coffee is actually the dirtiest drink served on airplanes!
An American flight attendant named Kevin recently interacted with internet users on social media. In response to the question, “What’s the dirtiest secret of this job?”, Kevin replied in the comments under other crew members’ posts, revealing that the dirtiest beverage on board might be ‘coffee’, sparking a heated discussion.
Kevin explained that the water used to brew coffee comes from the aircraft’s water tank, and the problem is that this water tank is almost never cleaned regularly. Additionally, the way coffee pots are cleaned also raises hygiene concerns, as flight attendants are required to pour leftover liquid from the coffee pot into the airplane’s toilet. To avoid splashing, most people place the pot very close to the toilet when pouring, which means the coffee pot may be contaminated by toilet water splashes.
This statement has been confirmed by some of his colleagues, who also revealed that there were plane models where the coffee machine was discontinued because E. coli was detected in the water tank. However, other flight attendants have clarified that some airlines explicitly prohibit bringing the coffee pot into the restroom for disposal.
Although airlines have not issued any official response to the incident, the topic has attracted much discussion among travelers. Some netizens declared, “I’ll never drink coffee on a plane again,” while others had a sudden realization, saying, “No wonder the taste always seemed weird.”
