(Manila, 29th) The Philippine Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) announced that during an operation in Parañaque City, Metro Manila, two Vietnamese nationals—a man and a woman—were arrested for allegedly practicing medicine illegally.
Brigadier General Abrahano, Director of the Philippine CIDG, stated that the 31-year-old female suspect "Thao Anh" and the 29-year-old male suspect "Dong Xuan" impersonated doctors. On August 25, at the local Diamond Bay Building, they were involved in diagnosing patients, administering injections, dispensing medicine, and conducting whitening treatments, without having the proper licenses issued by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and the Philippine Medical Association (PMA).
The police seized vials containing botulinum toxin, syringes, antibiotics, various medicines, whitening creams, and related equipment on site, with an estimated value of about 150,000 pesos.
On the other hand, the CIDG Batangas Provincial Team, together with the Provincial Intelligence Unit, carried out another operation on August 26 in Lipa City, Batangas, arresting four suspects allegedly involved in “fencing.”
It is reported that the drones and surveying equipment involved were originally worth about 4.7 million pesos and were supplied by a surveying company in 2021, with the payment left outstanding. The victim recently discovered that the suspects were reselling this batch of equipment online for 3 million pesos. Police seized several surveying devices, drones, batteries, a LiDAR, and an unlicensed .45 caliber handgun during the operation.
The four suspects have been charged for violating the Anti-Fencing Law, while the gun-carrying suspect, “Melecio,” faces additional charges for violating the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
