Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Safadi on Sunday (August 23) in Beijing, expressing appreciation for Jordan's firm commitment to pro-China policy and adherence to the "One China" principle.
At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Jordan's King Abdullah II began a week-long state visit to China last Tuesday (18th), accompanied by Minister Safadi (Ayman Safadi).
This visit is King Abdullah II’s ninth visit to China since his accession to the throne in 1999. During the visit, Xi Jinping will hold talks with King Abdullah II; Premier Li Qiang of the State Council will also meet with the Jordanian King.
After his arrival in Beijing last Thursday (20th), Zhao Leji, Chairman of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee, already held a meeting with him the next day (21st). During his visit to China, King Abdullah II also visited Shanghai and Shenzhen.
According to the website of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wang Yi met with Safadi in Beijing on Sunday and stated that Xi Jinping cherishes the friendship and mutual trust established with King Abdullah II. This is King Abdullah II's first visit to China after 11 years, and it is believed that the visit will achieve complete success.
Wang Yi also stated that China appreciates Jordan’s firm commitment to a pro-China policy and adherence to the “One China” principle.
The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs quoted Safadi as saying that Jordan attaches great importance to relations with China and is willing to deepen cooperation with China in various fields. Jordan also highly appreciates China’s positive and responsible role in Middle East issues.
