Sarawak Does Not Need Opposition's Check-and-Balance, GPS Can Self-Monitor and Advise

(Miri, 18th) The Democratic Action Party (DAP) in Sarawak continuously promotes the slogan of "balance of power," hoping to gain more seats in Sarawak. This slogan clearly does not serve the people, making one suspect other motives. Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) Youth Wing Deputy Chairman Kelvin Hii stated that DAP's actions not only fail to bring balance but also hinder Sarawak's development progress. They constantly seek cheap publicity through newspapers, engage in verbal wars in the press, and bring up minor issues to incite public emotions.

Kelvin Hii, who is also the SUPP Pujut Branch Youth Chairman, expressed that Sarawak is currently in rapid development and requires more cooperation and unity among the people for stable progress. It is crucial not to make unnecessary disturbances or nitpick on trivial matters. The essence of balance of power lies in the intention to promote Sarawak's development through constructive suggestions, not just pointing out problems without providing solutions.

During the first reading of the recent budget, when the Sarawak Premier Abang Johari introduced the policy granting RM1,200 in allowance to higher education students from B40 families, the SUPP representatives immediately suggested considering all higher education students regardless of family income, race, or religion to embody the spirit of Sarawak's unity. Subsequently, the Premier listened to the suggestions from SUPP and their team, amending the policy to grant all higher education students RM1,200 allowance. This demonstrates that GPS can self-review, monitor, and suggest changes without relying on the opposition's "balance of power." This shows that SUPP's suggestions truly stand from the people's perspective.

Kelvin Hii emphasized that as Sarawak is flourishing, all parties within the GPS and Sarawak's civil servants remain vigilant and strive to execute all projects to the best, to gain the people's trust. Over the past few years, far from going bankrupt as claimed by DAP, Sarawak has seen rapid development in infrastructure. All GPS member parties and civil servants should take lessons from the federal government and focus on serving the people over personal interests. Once everyone shares the same goal, it is believed that this will be a crucial factor in Sarawak's prosperity.

Kelvin Hii urges everyone to unite for stable development in Sarawak. In the upcoming election, do not easily listen to unnecessary voices that may harm Sarawak's unity and development. Unity and building a prosperous Sarawak together should be everyone's main goal in the coming election.
