Democratic Action Party Member of Parliament for Kepong, Lim Lip Eng, criticized UMNO's participation in a rally initiated by PAS in support of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib, and pointed out that this move raises public doubts: If UMNO can cooperate with PAS this time, could they also unite with other opposition parties in the future?

In a statement, he mentioned that UMNO President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid has announced that the party will cooperate with PAS to hold a rally on January 6 in support of Najib, who is currently serving time in prison.

He said this move has caused many Malaysians to question whether UMNO sincerely supports the unity government and the reform agenda actively promoted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar.

“My core question is, does UMNO prioritize the national interest, or does it choose to protect an individual convicted of corruption?”

Lim Lip Eng further pointed out that this rally reflects that certain individuals within UMNO are more focused on personal interests and political agendas.

“If UMNO can cooperate with PAS to promote such an agenda, what will stop them from uniting with other opposition parties in the future?”

Therefore, he urged Anwar to clearly express a firm stance on this matter and emphasized that the unity government must view the reform agenda as the cornerstone of national progress.
