Was Dylan Wang Ostracized During Filming? Shen Yue Apologizes and Reveals the Truth Behind 'Not Added to Group Chat'

Published at May 23, 2026 03:43 pm
Chinese variety show Dear Inn 2026 concluded yesterday (22nd), but unexpectedly sparked public controversy! Dylan Wang, the show’s main host, was teased by other guests during the final episode’s award segment. In the early hours of the 23rd, he posted online admitting that he was “indeed uncomfortable at the time,” which also drew heavy criticism online. Actress Shen Yue, who participated in the show, publicly apologized and even shared screenshots of group chat conversations to clarify the real story behind “not adding Dylan Wang to the group chat.”

Regarding the program’s award dubbed “You’re Just Dylan Wang Award,” Shen Yue started her apology letter by saying: “I’m sorry, Dylan Wang. At the same time I also want to apologize to everyone involved in this matter.” She quickly explained that the name of this award was actually an inside joke among the inn members, originally intended to convey hopes that, after the show, Dylan Wang could finally shed the heavy responsibilities of being the main host and just relax as himself. She emphasized, “In my heart, ‘Dylan Wang’ is like an ‘all-around champion award’,” insisting she never meant to demean any partner. She promised to be more considerate of others’ feelings in the future.

Group Chat Only Made for Movie Booking

In response to the uproar over her comment, “We do have a group but you’re not in it,” Shen Yue made the group chat screenshots public to clear her name. The screenshots showed the group chat titled “Let’s Make a Small Group While the Boss Isn’t Here (4),” with members including fellow guests Qin Lan, Xu Zhisheng, and others, created on February 13th. Within the chat, she suggested: “Friends, should we book a whole theater for Di?” and “I’m talking with sis about our team booking a whole session of 2026 together, does that sound about right?”

Shen Yue explained why Dylan Wang wasn’t added: “Chenxiao (Zhang Chenxiao) already booked it himself so I didn’t add him either,” “and we didn’t want Chenxiao to pay again, so the rest of us just did it as a team.” She helplessly added that the so-called small group mentioned in the award speech was actually just a joke among everyone, and the real group chat’s sole purpose was to organize a movie screening for the host’s new film, aiming to surprise him and avoid making him pay twice. She also said they’d already cleared things up in advance, and it was never done to deliberately exclude anyone.

Even though Shen Yue posted the chat screenshots and publicly apologized, netizens remained divided. Some questioned whether the group’s creation date matched the filming timeline at all, accusing her of “fabricating a PR excuse afterwards”; meanwhile, a large number of fans flooded Shen Yue’s Weibo supportively, saying “This was completely innocent, you did nothing wrong.”
