Based on data from the Malaysian Meteorological Department, the epicenter of the earthquake was located at 6.2 degrees south latitude and 151.6 degrees east longitude, with a magnitude of 6.8 and a depth of 10 kilometers, approximately 99 kilometers southeast of New Britain Island.
The Meteorological Department emphasized that this earthquake does not pose a tsunami threat to Malaysia, and the public does not need to panic.
