(Kuching, 15th) Public services throughout Sarawak must keep pace with the times to meet current development needs.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari stated that the Sarawak government, under the leadership of the Sarawak Parties Alliance (GPS), is committed to enhancing existing public services to meet the needs of the people, especially rural residents whose living standards are gradually improving.

He said that with the improvement of the people's living standards, the Sarawak government must double its efforts to ensure that the people can enjoy more comprehensive living amenities.

"The proposals from the Northern, Central, Mukah, and Southern regions all call for reforms in their respective areas. If the situation in the rural areas is such, then the PBB must improve its services to the countryside. This is why I announced a 2025 budget of RM15.8 billion, with 70% specifically allocated for rural and longhouse areas."

Abang Johari made these remarks during his speech at the PBB Convention today.

As the chairman of PBB, he added that one of the main purposes of PBB branch meetings and conferences is to listen to the voices of the people and convey them through grassroots leadership to the top leadership of the party in order to take appropriate action.

"We have heard about how to further improve the socio-economic conditions of the entire Sarawak. The leadership at the grassroots level is our strength, and it must be defended in accordance with the policy we have emphasized from the beginning to provide rural facilities."

He stated that the Sarawak government has proactively funded most rural infrastructure projects because federal government allocations remain insufficient, and some have even been slow, affecting the development of related areas.
