In the early morning of the 27th, a test train, while normally passing through a curved section at Luoyang Town Station in Kunming, Yunnan, collided with construction workers who had entered the track, resulting in 11 deaths and 2 injuries. The State Council Work Safety Committee of China has decided to include the investigation of this accident in the key supervised cases. In addition, on the same day in Sichuan, a train also brushed against construction workers, causing 2 deaths. Both railway accidents occurred in the early hours of the morning.

Sing Tao Daily reported that Kunming Railway Station issued a notice on the 27th: in the early morning of November 27, an earthquake-detection train, numbered 55537, while normally passing a curved track section at Luoyang Town Station in Kunming, collided with construction workers who had entered the track, resulting in 11 deaths and 2 injuries. Preliminary analysis suggests the cause of the accident was that staff entered the track early during a track replacement operation. Of the two injured individuals from the accident, one is seriously hurt and has already been transferred to intensive care, with no further update currently available. The other injured person was sent to the hospital and examined, found to have fractures in the thoracic vertebrae and maxillofacial bones, with no intracranial bleeding for now. The condition is temporarily stable, and they have been sent to the plastic surgery department for further treatment.

After the accident, the railway department immediately launched its emergency response plan and, together with the local government, organized casualty treatment and emergency rescue operations. Currently, transport order at the station has returned to normal, and the detailed cause of the accident is under investigation.

The railway department expressed deep condolences to those who lost their lives and extended heartfelt sympathies to the families of the deceased and the injured. Going forward, those responsible will be held accountable according to the law and regulations.

Preliminary findings on the cause of the accident: From 0:50 to 4:00, the Kunming South Track Maintenance Division was carrying out planned track replacement work on the up and down mainlines and both ends of the turnout zones at Luoyang Town Station. Workers got onto the track early without having received the construction dispatch order, leading to the accident.

In addition, at around 00:27, there was also a collision between a train and construction workers in the jurisdiction of Deyang, Sichuan, on the Baocheng Railway line. Two people died at the scene, with no other people injured. The two deceased were both railway maintenance labor dispatch workers. The specific cause of the accident is under investigation.
