(Miri 7th) A helicopter under Sarawak's Hornbill Skyways carried out a charitable flight mission today to transport student Syafinaz Deng, who will be taking the STPM exam, to Marudi for exam preparations.
This student from the SMK Marudi boarded the helicopter from the Apau Nyaring area in Miri's inland region at 4:32 PM and flew to Marudi Airport to attend the exam on Monday.
The Beluru District Officer and Disaster Management Committee Chairman stated that the helicopter had previously delivered food supplies to residents of Apau Nyaring, who were isolated from the outside world for two weeks following a road collapse incident.
He said that the village requested the helicopter pilot's assistance to transport the student to Marudi for the STPM exam on the helicopter's return trip to Miri.
He also added that the aid delivery mission to Apau Nyaring will be completed by tomorrow, benefiting 276 Penan residents there.
Before Syafinaz boarded the helicopter, her parents were present to send her off, and she was welcomed by the Baram Education Department officials upon her arrival in Marudi at 5:10 PM.
