Cross-border e-commerce platform SHEIN's first-ever physical store officially opened on the 5th local time in Paris, France.

SHEIN is a global cross-border e-commerce platform, mainly specializing in clothing, shoes, bags, and other fashion items, serving consumers in over a hundred countries and regions worldwide.

SHEIN's first global physical store is located on the sixth floor of the BHV department store in the center of Paris, covering an area of 1,000 square meters. A large crowd of people queued outside the store on opening day, with BHV staff distributing entry tickets to those waiting in line, maintaining order.

Most of the goods sold in the SHEIN physical store are ready-to-wear, many of which are made in China. Prices generally range from 20 to 40 euros, offering certain appeal to local consumers.

This time, SHEIN has partnered with the French department store group (SGM) to enter the French market and open its shop. SHEIN also plans to open physical stores in five other French cities: Angers, Dijon, Grenoble, Limoges, and Reims.

● Controversy Over Sex Doll Incident

SHEIN's opening of a physical store in Paris has sparked controversy in France. Recently, SHEIN became embroiled in a public outcry for selling sex dolls with a childlike appearance, prompting the French government to launch a judicial investigation.

French Prime Minister Attal announced he would initiate procedures to suspend SHEIN's digital platform operations in France until it complies with French law.

On the 4th, SHEIN announced the suspension of all third-party seller products on its platform.

● Environmental Groups and Union Members Protest

On the day of the opening, some citizens opposed to SHEIN entering BHV department store held banners or chanted slogans in peaceful protest. Some wore placards on their chests reading “The devil wears Shein.”

Environmental groups and union members also protested, claiming that SHEIN represents “fast fashion pollution” and “social injustice.” One protester stated: “We reject companies like SHEIN, which destroy jobs, the planet, and the health of the French people.”
