Ukrainian President Zelensky announced on social media on the 12th that in order to ensure the implementation of the new political strategy, he has decided to reshuffle the cabinet.
According to Xinhua News Agency, Zelensky said he discussed the details of the cabinet adjustment with Ukrainian Prime Minister Svyrydenko that day and decided to carry out a cabinet reshuffle. He thanked Svyrydenko for her "clear, stable, and efficient" work during her tenure as Prime Minister, and has proposed that she be responsible for work in a "new field."
Zelensky stated that he hopes to complete the cabinet reshuffle together with all Ukrainian political parties. In addition, the heads of Ukraine's law enforcement agencies will also be adjusted.
Zelensky did not clarify Svyrydenko's future position or who her successor would be. However, on the same day, Ukraine's Interfax news agency quoted Ukrainian lawmaker Yaroslav Zheleznyak as reporting that Svyrydenko would step down and might become Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States. Zheleznyak said that the new Prime Minister candidate has not yet been determined.
On July 17 last year, Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada (parliament) voted to approve former First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Svyrydenko as Prime Minister, replacing Shmyhal.
