Two Malaysians were involved in a bomb attack in Southern Thailand. The bomb attack was initially intended to target a vehicle of the volunteer defense team passing that section of the road, but the Malaysian vehicle happened to overtake and was affected. The two injured Malaysian tourists are currently recovering in the hospital and are receiving proper care from the Thai government.
According to a post on the "Narathiwat Provincial Public Relations Office" Facebook page on Monday night, at the time of the incident, a volunteer defense team vehicle was passing that section of the road on the way back from training in Yala province. The Malaysian tourist vehicle happened to overtake at the moment of the explosion and was affected.
In addition, the Southern Thai security forces "955th Task Force" also posted on Facebook, stating that the attack was initially intended to ambush the volunteer defense vehicle stationed in Cho-airong District, but the attack missed the target and hit the passing Malaysian car, resulting in injuries to two Malaysians.
The 955th Task Force revealed that the injured Malaysian tourists are 45-year-old Abdullah and 38-year-old Mohd Yusri. Abdullah suffered lacerations on his forehead, head, and left hand, and his left thigh was seriously deformed; while Mohd Yusri sustained injuries to his left arm and left hand fingers.

Furthermore, the Narathiwat Provincial Public Relations Office post also mentioned that Thailand's Deputy Minister of Interior, Athisan Phanthala, led senior military and political officials to the scene in Dabai District, Narathiwat, at 5 p.m. Thai time on Monday (29th) for an inspection.
"Athisan Phanthala stated that this explosion is related to earlier unrest incidents that occurred in Yala and Pattani. The Thai government and Ministry of Interior attach great importance to this. Currently, Thailand's Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin, who is in Paris, France, has issued urgent instructions for the relevant departments to rush to the scene to follow up on the situation and to fully rescue those affected as quickly as possible."
Additionally, the Narathiwat Provincial Public Relations Office revealed that the two Malaysian tourists are currently out of danger.
The Narathiwat government will provide compensation according to procedure. Abdullah, who was seriously injured, will receive 50,000 baht (about RM6,105) in aid, while Mohd Yusri will receive 10,000 baht (about RM1,221) in aid.
