The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced on social media on the 29th that a JetBlue Airways pilot reported colliding with a drone while preparing to land at Kennedy Airport earlier that morning.
The announcement noted that the incident occurred at around 7:15 a.m., with the aircraft at an altitude of about 914 meters when it struck the drone. Subsequent inspection did not find any damage to the aircraft. The FAA will launch an investigation into the incident.
According to U.S. media citing JetBlue, the aircraft landed safely and all passengers disembarked normally. The aircraft involved was an Airbus A321, flying from Las Vegas to New York at the time.
