(Hefei, 26th) As Chinese trendy toy brand Pop Mart's dolls are gaining global popularity, Hefei Customs recently seized 94 Pop Mart dolls from an inbound traveler, stating that the traveler carried these dolls with the intent of reselling for profit.
On Saturday (May 24th), the official WeChat account "Customs Release" under the General Administration of Customs of China reported that on May 16, Hefei Customs at Hefei Xinqiao Airport discovered abnormalities in the luggage of a traveler choosing the no-declaration channel during a flight inspection. Upon opening the luggage, a total of 94 Pop Mart dolls were seized.
The report stated that the traveler claimed to carry the items for the purpose of reselling for profit. Currently, the customs have temporarily withheld the release of these goods in accordance with the law. The report did not specify the value of these 94 Pop Mart dolls.
A similar situation occurred in Changsha, Hunan. According to "Customs Release" on May 15, Changsha Huanghua Airport Customs recently discovered irregularities in the luggage of a traveler choosing the no-declaration channel during a flight inspection. Upon opening the luggage, they found 50 Pop Mart dolls, valued at nearly 50,000 RMB (8913 SGD).
The report similarly indicated that the traveler claimed the purpose of carrying the dolls was for reselling for profit.
