(Seria, 3rd) The Kuala Belait Lions Club joined forces with several organizations this morning to launch a cleanup campaign at the Seria Billion Barrel Monument Beach, attracting a total of 76 volunteers. Everyone worked together, contributing to the protection of the environment.
This event saw 10 members of the club participating, including Alan Chee OC, President Johnny Cheong and his spouse Carol Lee, First Vice President Jason Chong, Second Vice President and Secretary Alvin Cheong, Treasurer Betty Phang, Immediate Past President Linda, as well as other members. The atmosphere at the event was lively, with everyone actively cleaning up litter on the beach within the allotted time.
The initiative received widespread support from volunteers across various sectors, with participants representing different groups and communities. Among the volunteers were: Seria Resettlement Housing Area Consultative Council Chairman Omar, Joint Scouts Coordinator Sikie, Panaga Area C Village Head Khairul, Pandan Area F Village Head Hazru, and Panaga Police Station Chief Haji Remy.
The main task of the beach cleanup activity was to collect litter around the Billion Barrel Monument beach. In just two hours, volunteers successfully gathered 320 kilograms of waste. This effort not only effectively improved the beach environment but also raised community awareness on the importance of environmental protection.
After the event, all participants expressed satisfaction with the outcome and stated their intention to continue joining similar environmental protection activities, promoting a stronger eco-consciousness within the community. Volunteers commented that only through everyone's joint efforts can we maintain and preserve the natural environment around us.
