Indonesian President Prabowo met with French President Macron in Paris, with both countries agreeing to strengthen cooperation in areas such as defense, energy, and the creative economy.
According to a report by Lianhe Zaobao, the Indonesian government issued a statement on the 15th, saying that Prabowo met Macron in France on the 14th and held discussions covering multiple areas, including defense procurement and strengthening the defense industry, energy transition and the development of renewable energy, infrastructure and transportation, as well as education and the creative economy.
The statement emphasized that France is an important strategic partner in Europe, and Indonesia will continue to promote cooperation with France to create new, concrete, and mutually beneficial opportunities for both countries.
The statement did not mention whether Indonesia agreed to purchase additional French Rafale fighter jets. Indonesia is a major buyer of French weaponry and had previously purchased 42 Rafale fighter jets.
